A Space for Discourse, Learning & Storytelling
Roots and Relationships is a space for conversation and storytelling that delves deep into the complexities of kinship, love, resilience, and the historical ties that shape the Black family experience. Through thought-provoking discourse, personal narratives, and expert insight, we explore the rich tapestry of Black family systems, offering a therapeutic lens to help strengthen relationships, foster healing, and promote growth—both within families and on an individual level.
At Roots and Relationships, we celebrate the wisdom passed down through generations while embracing modern approaches to healing, communication, and transformation. We believe in the power of connection, the strength found in community, and the profound impact of shared stories. Whether you're seeking inspiration to nurture your family relationships, exploring the healing potential of lineal wisdom, or engaging with the historical and cultural context of Black kinship, this space is dedicated to sparking insight, fostering change, and nurturing the resilience of Black families.
Led by Quanishia Gibson, LPC, a licensed therapist with a master's in counseling focused on marriage, couples, and family therapy from Geneva College, this platform invites you to join a movement of connection, understanding, and growth—one story at a time.
Mission
At Roots and Relationships, we are committed to cultivating resilient families and fostering healthy relationships through discourse. Every family has a story, and every relationship is a unique path of growth and transformation. Through thoughtful discussions, expert guidance, and a sense of community, we aim to support individuals and families as they explore the complexities of love, conflict, healing, and personal growth.
The Name
Roots" symbolize where we come from, the foundations and experiences upon which our identities are built. "Relationships" are the connections we forge with those around us, particularly within the family unit. The name represents the interconnectedness of these two vital aspects of life—understanding our origins and using that knowledge to strengthen our present and future relationships.
